Ardha -Kumbha Mela of 2019 in Prayagraj is being held from Makarsankranti (15th January) to Mahashivaratra (4thMarch). In this 50-day period, 12 crore devotees will have a Holy dip at the confluence. In the Kumbha Mela, various spiritual practices are performed; these include bathing in the Ganga, donating for the right cause, being in the company of Saints, Shraddha, Kalpavas, observing religious vows, darshan of Akshayavat, etc. Sanatan Sanstha and Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) are working together to ensure that the spiritually faithful comprehend the spiritual practice necessary and create awareness about the ‘Hindu Nation’. This article describes their efforts in brief.

1. Organising 2 exhibitions in the
Kumbhakshetra for enlightening devotees
1A. Sanatan’s exhibition on ‘Education on
Dharma and protection of the Nation & Dharma’
Kumbhakshetra is spread over 25 sq. km. It was only with the Guru’s grace that Sanatan Sanstha was allotted land near Mori Marg which is at the heart of the Kumbhakshetra, near the confluence. Nearly 30% devotees visiting the Kumbha have to pass through this area. It has pandals of all Shankaracharyas, Ramanandacharya, Dashanami Akhadas and Dharma-Samrat Karpatri Swamiji. In the same row, Sanatan’s exhibition on ‘Education on Dharma and protection of the Nation & Dharma’ is situated.
In this exhibition, over 100 boards have been put up regarding bathing in the Ganga, conduct as per Dharma, worship of Deities, darshan in temples, Spirituality, spiritual practice, protecting the sanctity of temples, eradication of social evils, remembring revolutionaries and awakening on the ‘Hindu Nation’. An Idol of Shri Ganesh made by Sanatan has become a point of attraction. One section depicts the activities of Sanatan Sanstha, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, Maharshi Adhyatma Vishwavidyalay, Hindu Vidhidnya Parishad, Industrialists Council, Health Assistance Committee and other organisations working under the guidance of Sanatan.
1B. HJS-organised ‘Exhibition depicting the
atrocities committed on Kashmiri and Bangladeshi Hindus’
Jagadguru Swami Achyutanand Tirtha Swamiji, Peethadhishwar of Bhuma-Niketan Peetha in Haridwar, made land available for HJS’ exhibition. This place is also very close to the confluence and about 150 feet away from Sanatan Sanstha’s exhibition. At this place, HJS has exhibited pictures providing information about the atrocities committed on Kashmiri and Bangladeshi Hindus. The boards on conversions, eradication of social tendencies in the society and ‘Shourya-Jagran (Awakening an attitude of bravery)’ are also displayed here.
2. Participation in the exhibition organised by NBT
The National Book Trust (NBT) had organised a National Book Exhibition in the Kumbhkshetra from 28th January to 11th February. Sanatan’s Holy texts and sattvik products were displayed there.
3. Mobile exhibitions of Sanatan’s Holy texts
Mobile exhibitions of Sanatan’s Holy texts have been organised at crowded places in the Kumbhakshetra. Some seekers wear aprons displaying Holy texts and propagate in crowded places. Holy texts such as ‘Kumbhamahima’, ‘Gangamahima’, etc. are propagated at such places.
4. Release of various Apps at the hands of Saints
The iOS App of Sanatan Almanac in the Hindi was released by Mahant Narendra Giri Maharaj (President of Akhada Parishad), in Gujarati by Jagadguru Ramanandacharya Hansdevacharya Maharaj and in English by H.H. Gun Prakash Chaitanya Ji Maharaj. The ‘Kumbha App’ of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti was released by Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Shri Swaroopanand Saraswati Maharaj (Peethadhishwar of Jyotish and Dwarka Peetha).
5. ‘Hindu Nation’ contact campaign
Sanatan Sanstha and HJS have jointly started a ‘Hindu Nation contact campaign’ to raise awareness about the ‘Hindu Nation’ among Saints, Akhadas, spiritual institutions, etc. Under this campaign, Saints, etc. in every sector are contacted and briefed about the mission to establish the ‘Hindu Nation’ undertaken by Sanatan and HJS, and they are invited to visit the exhibitions. During day time, 4-5 groups of 2 seekers each are conducting the campaign in Kumbhakshetra.
6. Press conference to inform the activities of Sanatan Sanstha and HJS
After reaching the Kumbhakshetra, 70 journalists were contacted in 3 days and a press conference was organised, which was attended by 68 journalists. They were briefed on the activities of Sanatan and HJS and invited to visit the exhibitions. Many TV channels recorded bytes of 2-3 minutes and aired them.
7. Awareness on ‘Kashmiri Hindus Displacement Day’
On 19th January 1990, exodus of 4.5 lakh Kashmiri Hindus began. This day was observed as ‘Kashmiri Hindu Exile Day’, and an awareness programme for Saints and devout Hindus was organised, attended by 10 Saints, 10 journalists, 15 devout Hindus and 15 devotees.
8. ‘Clean Kumbha, Sattvik Kumbha’ campaign
The Uttar Pradesh Government had requested various NGOs to implement supplementary campaigns under ‘Clean Kumbha’ campaign. Sanatan Sanstha and HJS are implementing the ‘Clean Kumbha, Sattvik Kumbha’ campaign. In the Kumbha area, leaflets are distributed to create awareness about the sanctity of ‘Kumbha’, ‘Tirtha’, ‘Ganga’ and ‘Temples’. Preparations for various campaigns are going on as given ahead.

C. Forcing beggars to desist from dressing like Deities
D. Enlightening the devotees not to wear clothes with images of Deities, mantras, symbols
9. Welcoming Akhadas during the
flag-hoisting ceremony and the Rajayogi bath (Shahisnan)
Sanatan Sanstha and HJS welcomed the Ascetics and Saints who were present during the flag-hoisting ceremony of Vaishnava Akhadas, with the seekers holding specially prepared welcome banners. ‘Welcome-banners’ were also placed on the paths from where the Ascetics, Saints and devotees passed for the Rajayogi bath on the days of Makarsankranti and Pousha Pournima.
10. Marathon chanting of Shriram’s Name
To create awareness about the early construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, Sanatan Sanstha and HJS organised marathon chanting of Shriram’s Name at 2 places on 10th January when the hearing on the Shriram Janmabhumi case was to take place. The chanting was also organised on 15th January on Makarsankranti.
