3. This Holy text advises performing nyas at different organs of the body using the fingers and the palm, and it is
similar to matrukanyasas mentioned in Mantrayoga (Path of chanting a mantra) : ‘Mantra in effect is the audible
symbol of Matrudevi. The first step in creation of life is the Divine resolve. It gives rise to desire, which gets transformed into activity of Deity Brahma. This activity is the Shakti of the Supreme Brahma.
Next in line is the sound or the vibration of the universe. Through this sound originates the universe. The visible form of vibration of the universe are alphabets, which are termed Matrukas. It is through these Matrukas that various mantras of the Matrudevi have originated.’
‘There are two forms of matrukanyas – antarmatrukanyas and bahirmatrukanyas. Antarmatrukanyas involves meditating on the matrukas located at the six Kunḍalini-chakras. Whereas, bahirmatrukanyas involves performing nyas using the fingers and the palm at various organs. During this time it is a practice to chant the bījamantra (An
alphabet or group of alphabets generating spiritual energy) of the Deity associated with the respective organ.’
