More than 250 years old, self-materialized idol from Nagpur and one of the ashtavinayak from Vidarbha
This temple is located on the hillock of Sitabardi in the center of Nagpur city. The temple having idol of Ganapati installed in the huge bark of a tree is the Tekdicha Ganapati temple. This Ganapati is Deity of worship for residents of Nagpur. Earlier the structure of this temple was in hemadpanthi architectural style. The ritualistic worship of this idol of Shri Ganapati used to be performed by the royal Bhosale family. During a foreign invasion this temple was destroyed. But a few years later in 1866 this idol was found and a temple was built. On Chaturthi (The fourth day) in the Hindu lunar month of Magh, a huge celebration is held in the temple. Lakhs of devotees gather for paying obeisance to Ganapati. This idol is one of the eight idols of Shri Ganesh found in Vidarbha.
