1. Plucking the leaves of a tree when told by the Guru and placing them back on the tree upon His instructions
‘Once Shri Tukamai (Spiritual Guru of Brahmachaitanya Gondavlekar Maharaj) was sitting beneath a banyan tree in a field and Ganu (Brahmachaitanya Gondavlekar Maharaj) was standing behind Him. Tukamai instructed Him, “Pluck leaves of that tree.” Ganu climbed the tree and obliged the Master. Tukamai held some leaves in his hand and noticed that they had latex. He reprimanded Ganu, “Enough now. By plucking leaves you are hurting the tree. See how latex is oozing from them ! Put back the leaves immediately from where you had plucked them.”
Ganu complied and placed the leaves from where He had plucked them one by one. After a while Tukamai said, “Well done ! This is what we call obedience unto the Guru”.
2. After jumping into the well as per Shri Tukamai’s order, lying at the bottom of the well till He ordered to come back up
Once Tukamai instructed Ganu to jump into the well. Ganu instantly jumped into the well. However, since Guru had not instructed him to come up, He remained at the bottom of the well. Then Tukamai raised an alarm, and crowd gathered. They threw a rope into the well but Ganu was nowhere in sight. Everyone started wailing. This continued over two to three hours. Finally, Tukamai shouted, “My child if you do not come out of the well now I will end my life by jumping into it.” No sooner did He hear His Guru’s words than Ganu jumped out of the well. Tukamai held Him close to His heart.’
