Research findings by Indi University from Scotland
New Delhi – New research by Indi University from Scotland states that surgery can be improved by playing Bharatiya classical music in the operation theater.
1. This study has been published in the International Journal of Surgery and states that listening to Bharatiya classical music during surgery increases the efficiency of the operating surgeon upto 11%. In fact even pre-surgical procedures were completed faster by 10%, due to the music.
2. Bharatiya classical music reduces stress levels, increases concentration of surgeons and also allays anxiety of the patient. If Bharatiya classical music is played then the need for anesthesia too reduces.
3. As per researchers this music is played in the operation theater in a moderate volume even before the surgery. As against this blaring or high pitched music can be distracting and can increase post-surgical infections. The important inference from this study is that music has an effect on the efficiency of a surgeon.
