Goswami Tulsidas is known to be the incarnation of Maharshi sage Valmiki. He is the composer of great scriptures like Ramacharitmanas, Ayodhyakand, Sundarkand etc. Let us see an incident in His life highlighting His spiritual authority.
In the Tretayug when the Shrirama-Ravan battle reached the final stage, Deity Indra beckoned Kartikeya, He said, “The battle has reached the final stage now and Prabhu Shrirama will require your help to complete it. Till Shrirama completes the worship of Durgadevi you take charge of the army.”
Vishnusahasranam is a famous stotra (A hymn of praise) of ShriVishnu. Amidst recitation of these thousand Names, ShriVishnu is ritualistically worshipped with an offering of tulsi (Holybasil) leaves or lotus flowers.

An offering is an object or money gifted with faith and respect to a deserving individual. Offering is a kind of sacrifice. Here, man surrenders the ownership of a particular object or money, and the recipient becomes the owner.
