The Guru – as Jupiter is commonly called – transited from Aquarius to Pisces sign on Wednesday, 13.4.2022 (Chaitra Shukla Dwadashi) at 3.45 p.m. Jupiter stays in a Zodiac sign for about 13 months. The two months in the mid of these 13 months will yield the most effective results of Jupiter. Jupiter will transit into Aries on 22.4.2023.
1. The transit of Jupiter into Pisces
and its significance according to Astrology
Its Punyakal (Favourable period) was on 13.4.2022 from 1.54 p.m. to 5.36 p.m.
Information on Punyakal
In Punyakal, chanting, donating, worshipping, etc., are virtuous and distress-relieving acts. The movement of Jupiter from one Zodiac sign to another is called the transition period. The result of sadhana (Spiritual practice) performed in the transition period is manifold. Jupiter is related to the Sattva component. People who are not able to chant during this entire period should chant at least 15 minutes before and after Jupiter’s entry into a Zodiac sign.
2. Importance of Jupiter
Jupiter is an auspicious planet and has a unique significance among all the planets. In Hindu Dharma, Gurubal (Strength provided by the Guru) is ensured in any auspicious ritual such as Upanayan (Thread ceremony), marriage, etc. According to the Scriptures, no auspicious ritual should be performed while the Guru is on the descendant. Jupiter is related to the Sattva component. This planet is associated with the Absolute Ether Principle, which is the highest of the Five Cosmic Principles. This planet is virtuous, diligent, just, compassionate, altruistic, ambitious and spiritually inclined. Gurubal has to be good for performing spiritual practice.
3. Effects when Jupiter is in the Pisces sign
Jupiter is the largest planet in the solar system. Jupiter is the Ruler of the Pisces sign. In the Nisargkundali (The Zodia cycle begins with Aries, hence, Kundali with Aries in the first place is called Nisargkundali), Pisces falls in the Vyayasthan (Twelfth house in the horoscope). Vyayasthan is one of the 3 places in the horoscope representing the Mokshatrikon (Final triangle – 4th, 8th, 12th houses of the horoscope). In Astrology, there are ‘friends’ and ‘enemy’ signs of the planets. The rule is – when a planet is in a friendly Zodiac sign and the places in the horoscope of which it is the Ruler, it is auspicious for events in life. Since Jupiter is an auspicious planet, its Gurubal is confirmed before every ritual. It is important to have the auspicious Jupiter in the horoscope. The auspicious planet Jupiter brings success in all fields such as higher education, foreign travel, publicity, philosophy, Dharma, fame, as well as financial, religious and spiritual fields.
4. Jupiter’s positions according to the Zodiac
Jupiter enters Pisces first, then Aquarius, Capricorn, Sagittarius, Scorpio, Libra, Virgo, Leo, Cancer, Gemini, Taurus and finally the Aries sign.

7. The importance of spiritual practice
in the inauspicious position of the planets
If the planets in the Gochar (Transit) horoscope (Horoscope based on the current positions of planets) are in an inauspicious position, one who does not perform spiritual practice is likely to suffer more. Conversely, one who performs spiritual practice does not suffer much from the malefic effects of the planets due to sattvikata generated. If there is more trouble during this period, chant ‘Shri Gurudev Datta.’ The Guru’s Purana Mantra given above can also be recited.
One characteristic of Spirituality is that the spiritual progress is faster due to spiritual practice performed in the adverse times than in the favourable times. Therefore, seekers should pay attention to increasing their efforts in spiritual practice without letting their minds be affected by the malefic planetary position.

Gains from Munja and Gurubal
From 13.4.2022 to 21.4.2023, Jupiter is in the Pisces sign, meaning, its own house. Gurubal is excellent for all Zodiac signs (Note). Therefore, if you want to perform Munja (Thread ceremony) in this period, you gain from it because the Gurubal is good.
Note – Sagittarius and Pisces are 2 Zodiac signs of the Guru Principle. As a result, Jupiter in Sagittarius and Pisces signs belongs to its own house.
